While hops scotch and beans may sounds like some strange mix of a child’s game and a bedtime story, don’t be fooled into thinking you’ll improve your coordination or score magic beans at this Paddington bar and cafe’. Hops scotch and beans is a cafe’, bar and kitchen in Brisbane’s Paddington up on Petrie Terrace.
Sarah, Dani and I hit up Hops Scotch and Beans for a cute little breakfast date yesterday and were definitely not disappointed. Just a short stroll from the Barracks, where we scored our free two hour parking, Hops Scotch and Beans can be found at 101 Petrie Terrace and is open for breakfast everyday and late nights on Thursday, Friday and Saturday.
We sat in the breezy outdoor area and chowed down on a delicious latte and a cold press coffee (still an odd concept) before our breakfast arrived. Although it was almost impossible to finish before our breakfasts appeared. Being a boring sod I ordered the avocado on toast (although I did add haloumi!) but it was far from boring. Adorned with some orangey-red spice and what looked like nuts, the avo had the perfect balance of flavour. Sarahs breakfast roll was objectively the best choice of brunch food ever, the perfect hyrbid of breakfast food and lunch food, which really, is what we base the entire concept of brunch around.
While for once I was not hungover, I definitely think that Hops Scotch and Beans would be the perfect breakfast place to remedy your self-inflicted illness.
